About Us
Hello, I am Vicki Pariyar, dreamer and creator of Knots & Bolts Creating Co.
I am so happy that I am here; creating in downtown Sanford a place for sewists, yarn
lovers and creatives and those they love. Here’s to you joining me!
What I envision is a place where quilters quilt, yarn lovers knit and crochet, creatives
create and so much more. It has always been in the company of other creatives that I
have grown and learned the most. I believe Downtown Sanford is ready for a gathering
place for its community of creatives to grow and learn together!
I have been surrounded by fibers and textiles since I began sewing with my mother at
the age of 8. My interests grew in college where I graduated with a textile design degree
and began working in the industry in New York and down south, running a knit division.
In my mid-twenties, I wanted to use the knowledge I had gained to help others. I served
in the Peace Corps in Nepal, teaching what I knew and learning so much more.
Following my time in the Peace Corps, I opened a hotel and children’s clothing store in
the Annapurna valley town of Pokhara, Nepal with my then husband and daughter.
Returning to America in 2001 with just my daughter, I began again to build a life in my
hometown of Westwood, MA where I first began sewing. It was then, each evening, as
my daughter slept, I sewed. Craft fairs, part-time jobs in quilt stores, quilt guilds, and an
unwavering community of friends and family all have been part of my build up to starting
my own shop.
In 2020, I moved to Sanford with my daughter and son-in-law. We all experienced a
collective pause to life as we knew it. My life changed with the joy and chaos of
grandchildren and remote work. With the idea brewing for years and the past few years
showing us all we don’t know what will come next, I asked myself “If not now, when?”
It is with Peace & Love (and a touch of chaos) that I have created Knots & Bolts
Creating Co., a place for us all.
